The fantastic news is that the restriction to only provide urgent care has been lifted, and we are now able to offer routine and maintenance treatments too. It is so exciting to be able to welcome all of our patients back!
We have had some lovely feedback from patients who have visited the Clinic over the last 6 weeks. It has been great to hear that people are feeling safe when they come for treatment. There is constant work going on behind the scenes, updating Risk Assessments, procuring PPE, developing protocols, and adapting the premises to reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19. These strict protocols enable us to comply with Infection Control advice from Public Health England, and guidance from the General Chiropractic Council and the British Chiropractic Association.
Our procedures are outlined below, but you can find further detail regarding the policies and procedures in place in our related blog.
Despite these precautions, there remains an inherent risk of transmission of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). Whilst working hard to manage and minimise risks, Haslemere Chiropractic Clinic cannot guarantee that there is no risk as a result of attending the clinic. Patients will be attending at their own risk.
The Clinic is open on Monday to Fridays, 9.00am – 7.00pm, and Saturday mornings. All of the chiropractors are now back at work, albeit with slight variations in hours due to other commitments, such as child care and home schooling!
The best way to book an appointment is to call Reception. The Receptionist will be there to answer your call all day Monday to Friday, and Saturday mornings. Online bookings remain suspended for the time being. There is still a need to Triage anyone wanting to book an appointment, in order that we can be mindful of higher risk groups. Telephone triage enables us to manage and mitigate the increased risks that some of our more vulnerable patients face. We will re-instate online bookings as soon as we are confident that we can maintain our standards of safety without this Triage process.
You can also email firstname.lastname@example.org if you prefer.
Treatment can now be offered to anyone, including those with only mild symptoms, and patients wanting routine and maintenance appointments. Michelle has decided not to offer Craniosacral Therapy appointments yet. Craniosacral Therapy typically involves prolonged periods of positioning where Michelle’s face is close to the patient’s, which is considered to pose an unacceptable risk at the moment. However, Michelle will be happy to incorporate craniosacral therapy techniques into a normal treatment for anyone who wishes.
You are in the “at risk” group, as defined by Public Health England, if you are:
– Over 70
– Have a long term health condition
– Have a weakened immune system.
If you fall into any of these higher risk categories, or have close contact with someone who falls into these categories, you need to carefully consider whether you want to attend for treatment. However, if you feel that your symptoms are sufficient to seek treatment, we are willing to offer you an appointment. The Receptionist is asking everyone who books if they are in a higher risk group in order that the chiropractor can assess and manage the risks to offer the highest level of protection that we are able to.
If you have complex medical needs which make you very vulnerable, you may have been “Shielding”. We remain cautious about inviting anyone who is shielding to attend in Clinic, although in some circumstances we may be able to offer you an appointment. In the first instance, the chiropractor would need to call to discuss your needs and agree the best course of action. The chiropractors are happy to offer telephone advice or video consultations to patients who are shielding, and may be able to offer a face-to-face appointment if they believe that they can do so without exposing you to an unacceptable risk. Please do get in touch if you are struggling, and we will do our best to help. Visit our Blog “Online Consultations: Your Guide” to find out how video consultations work, or call Reception for further information.
As you can imagine, the patient experience will be a bit different to usual due to the social distancing and infection control policies that we have in place.
You will have been asked to complete an online COVID-19 Consent form, including a statement that you are not experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms.
Please come to the Clinic in clean clothes and only bring essential personal possessions.
It is important that you arrive at your appointment time (or up to 5 mins before if you wish to use the toilet, but no earlier), to allow time to be health checked and to sanitise your hands before you go through for your treatment. Please come alone. If you need to be accompanied for a medical reason, let us know in advance.
Please ring the door bell and wait outside where indicated. The door will be on a security latch, so do not try to enter. The Receptionist will perform a temperature check and will be asked health screening questions before you are invited inside. If you have your own face covering, please come to the door with it in place.
Immediately upon entry to the building, you will be asked to sanitise your hands.
The Receptionist will take payment before showing you through to an empty treatment room to wait for the Chiropractor.
Keeping safe during your treatment:
Wherever possible, the Clinic layout has been organised to allow social distancing at 2m. You will notice that the Treatment Rooms have been slightly re-arranged to enable the chair that you sit in to be 2m from the Chiropractor when you are talking. We are fortunate to have plenty of windows in the Clinic, and will be making full use of these to achieve optimum ventilation throughout the building.
When the chiropractor is closer than 2m, they will wear a surgical mask, apron and gloves. They will also be wearing clothing that is only worn at work.
Patients will be asked to wear a face covering. You can bring your own face mask, purchase a fabric mask from us (£4.50), or use a free single use mask provided by us.
Every contact surface in the treatment room is sanitised with anti-viral cleaning agents between each patient. Our Reception Team have become cleaning superheroes!
There is a “One-Way System” in place. We are managing the flow of patients through the Clinic to prevent contact with anyone else when you attend. The chiropractor will book your next appointment and show you out of an alternative exit. Please leave promptly so that the Receptionist has time for their sanitising routine between patients.
The Chiropractors continue to offer video consultations. These are for existing and new patients who are unable to attend Clinic, or prefer not to. Call Reception to make a booking.
All of the Team at Haslemere Chiropractic Clinic are extremely grateful for the support and understanding of our clients during this difficult time. Please be assured that the safety of our patients and our Team are our priority. We are delighted to be able to see all of our patients for face-to-face treatment again, and look forward to welcoming you soon!
